Chionmang
(Chiang Chang-Way), Lima 1970.
His
contact with photography started at a very young age through his father. From
age 14 to 20 he did social photography. He applied to the Pontificia Universidad
Católica del Perú, and following the General Studies Program, he travelled to
Santiago de Chile. Back in Perú, he was a student of the first class of
Instituto Antonio Gaudí. He also collaborated with different entities during
and after his studies at Gaudí. In december 1996 he started collaborating with
Reuters during the take of the Japanese Embassy. This episode marked him and his
photography, that is, it established his view on what and how to capture
photography, leaning him towards two lines of work: a comercial line and a
plastic line. He currently lives and works in Lima, basically working for
private companies and advertising agencies, and devoting the rest of his time to
his personal plastic line of work.
